Futility Now

Things Gotta Start Somewhere

So on Sunday we looked at a lot of houses. Most of them were a bit on the grim side for one reason or another. Some of these reasons had to do with size. Some of them had to do with unameliorated filth. People around town have started picking up houses again, so the situation which seemed decidedly favorable fairly recently has suddenly gotten pretty nerve-wracking.

We made an offer on a place out in Montavilla. The problem is, so did 5 of these newly-eager types. We’re hoping for the best, although we’re not unguardedly optimistic, by any measure.

“When the sun shouts and people abound”

– Robinson Jeffers, from “Summer Holiday”

Jeffers didn’t mention that this is the best time to have a garage sale.  I’m convinced he meant to include it somewhere between a poem/ Stuck in the world’s thought, and splinters of glass, but I guess there’s no way to be sure.

We did well, but somehow we ended up with more stuff in our garage than we had before the sale. Hopefully the internet will save us?
